Malecki Law is pleased to announce that Ms. Jacqueline Candella has joined Malecki Law as its new associate securities attorney in New York. Ms. Candella is a recent graduate of the New York Law School yet brings with her an impressive background in the securities and financial industry.
Ms. Candella received her Juris Doctor from Ms. Malecki’s Alma Matter New York Law School (NYLS), having also completed an undergraduate degree in Finance from Pace University. Prior to law school, Ms. Candella served as a client associate for Merrill Lynch – Bank of America’s Wealth Management Department, providing risk assessments, financial analysis, research, and account management support for high-net worth investors.
While in law school, Ms. Candella served as an extern in the Enforcement Division of the Financial Regulatory Authority (FINRA), where she assisted in the investigation of member firms and associated persons for violations of federal securities laws and industry rules. She provided a wide range of support functions for FINRA’s enforcement attorneys, including research and drafting on legal issues. Ms. Candella also participated in interviews with registered representatives and worked on Form U4 and U5 registration issues. In a separate internship, Ms. Candella gained relevant law firm and litigation experience, performing significant work on customer arbitrations and mediations through NYLS’s Field Placement office.
Malecki Law’s founder, New York securities lawyer Jenice L. Malecki, is especially thrilled to bring Ms. Candella aboard to help mentor another strong, talented and passionate female attorney into an industry, and a New York securities law firm niche, which needs more strong female attorneys. Malecki law is passionate about inclusion and diversity. The securities industry, run by powerful companies led by powerful people, has historically been less diverse than other industries, but even non-diverse members of the industry and investors are often marginalized and scapegoated. Malecki Law levels that playing field.
Ms. Candella is a rising star, serving as a member of the Marketing and Communications Committee for the National Association of Women Lawyers, and while in law school serving as Treasurer and Co-President of the Legal Association for Women, a student organization that helps to promote gender equality in the legal profession.
Ms. Candella promises to be an active and prolific securities law writer and bar association member. She has written numerous summaries on SEC Settlement Agreements and SEC Litigation for Practical Law – What’s Market, a Thomson Reuters’ publication. Topics included fraud, market manipulation, anti-money laundering, and reporting and disclosure issues. She has similarly written for Fried Frank Regulatory Intelligence (FFRI), formerly known as the Cadwalader Cabinet. Topics have included SEC rule proposals, regulation of private fund advisers, trade and financial sanctions and consumer protection efforts.
Ms. Candella also gives back; she is a caring member of her community who has assisted Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) as its co-chair of Walk Like MADD.
We are delighted to have Ms. Candella join the firm’s New York securities attorneys and Malecki Law Team! More about Ms. Candella can be found here. Malecki Law’s newly updated and organized website can also be found here.
